Here’s a bit about me, my career history and qualifications.

I was brought up in New Brighton and went to Birkenhead High School. I started my career at 18 in childcare, after qualifying with an NNEB at Withens Lane College, Wallasey. I worked for Wirral Social Services Children’s Centres, then Sussex University Crèche, then as a nanny in Surrey and then worked as a Residential Child Care Officer at a children’s home on the Wirral. While working at the Children’s Home I started to train for 4 years in Cognitive Behavioural Counselling, gaining a distinction in a Diploma of Higher Education, awarded by John Moores university in 1997. My dissertation was in Domestic Violence and my interests were mainly with Women’s health and therapies. I also trained for a year in NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) and gained a certificate.

Soon after the birth of my son (20 years ago) I moved from social services children’s sector to SS Adult Mental Health, where I worked on the Community Support Team. I did rehabilitation work and community support with people who suffered with a range of Mental Health problems. In 1999, while working part time in this job I then opened up a centre for women in Hamilton Square called Wirral Women’s Counselling Centre. Also in 1999 I qualified in Reflexology (IIHHT Diploma) and Aromatherapy (IIHHT Diploma) and I offered services such as CBT Counselling, Group Therapy, Relaxation and Visualisation classes, Reflexology and Aromatherapy. I ran the Women’s centre for a year whilst still working part time on the Community Support Team, but had to close it down due to lack of funding (there was no internet then and it was so hard to promote and get any funding!)
I worked full time on the Mental Health Community support team for 8 years and then decided the stress and ever increasing demands of the job were not for me anymore… So I decided to open my own Beauty Salon. Here I managed the salon and offered my services of Reflexology and Aromatherapy too.

“Jann is a lovely lady, who made me very welcome and comfortable right away. It was blissful to lie on the bed and let her work magic on my feet.”

I had the salon for 10 years and after moving to live In Heswall in 2016, I decided to sell the business and work part time just doing Reflexology and Aromatherapy from a rented beauty room in Heswall.

I work Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and one Saturday a month in Heswall doing what I absolutely love. I’m able to work with people, helping with such a variety of problems and their complexities, and fulfil my interests in alternative and complimentary therapies in Women’s Health.
